Procrastination... Movies

Do you like movies?  I do and I always have (assume that I always will).

Lately, I have had a few different philosophies about movies.  You see, I have limited time, usually I'm running from place to place trying to squeeze in every minute of every day (as evidence of my day today where my car still won't start, I lit myself on fire while attempting to cook dinner and then I spent the rest of the time focusing on doing homework... I will be EXCITED when I graduate. Just give me one more month).

I digress.

The Oscars made me think about a few things... mainly which type of movie do I like.  I enjoyed "The Kings Speech" but had no desire to see "127 Hours".  It isn't that I think "127 Hours" is a bad movie, but it is that when I go to the movies, I just want to laugh and enjoy myself, not deal with turmoil and dispair (even if it turns out ok in the end).

This is how I find myself in a conundrum... watch epic, critically acclaimed movies? OR.... stupid, fall out of your seat laughing movies.

I think there is a balance.  Like I've said before, "Twister" and "Apollo 13" are two of my favorite movies.  I can't help but like Woody Allen movies... the quirky weird plots just make me smile.  But, when I'm at home, I find myself watching the same movies over and over... check out this list

A few favorite comedys

  • Super Troopers / Beerfest (Just watched this weekend and I love it)
  • The Hangover (HILARIOUS... especially if you've been to Vegas and had a similar hangover experience)
  • Caddyshack (really there are no other words)
  • Ace Ventura
  • 40 Year Old Virgin
  • Animal House (EPIC!)
  • Dumb and Dumber (Andy LOVED this movie)
  • Blazing Saddles (or any Mel Brooks for that matter... Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein)
  • Ghostbusters (Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria)
  • Meet the Parents (original only)
  • Office Space (my life half of the time)
  • Big (who doesn't want to play on the piano?)
  • There's Something About Mary (moose anyone?)
  • Wayne's World (schwing!)
  • The Jerk (Classic - It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child.)
  • Hot Shots (when I was little I didn't even realize Top Gun was a movie)
  • Austin Powers
  • American Pie
Movie on to Others...
  • Twister
  • Apollo 13
  • Wind (because I like sailing)
  • Singing in the Rain (LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie)
  • Wizard of Oz
  • Star Wars Trilogy (I happen to be watching this at this very moment)
  • Jaws (my Aunt is in it)
  • Most Indiana Jones movies
Sports Movies... because I just can't help myself
  • Hoosiers (because it is just awesome)
  • Rudy (Notre Dame Football, no other explanation needed)
  • Breaking Away
  • Field of Dreams (because it is ok if guys cry during this movie)
  • Remember the Titans
  • Jerry McGuire (SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!)
  • Sandlot (I still have a crush on Bennie)
  • Rookie of the Year (again a crush)
  • The Mighty Ducks
  • Miracle
  • Caddyshack (so good... it can go in two places)
I am really just procrastinating doing homework, but I can only write so much in a night.  Thanks for entertaining me.  I am interested to see what you think.

I watched "The Jerk" the other night on Netflix. My favorite part is when he's trying to keep all the things from the mansion.
